James Wharton is never predictable, but always enjoyable to read. I am hooked on his historical fiction and quite impressed by his short stories. He maintains a dry sense of humor...sometimes readily apparent and sometimes cleverly hidden. Either way, his work is high on my list of authors that I would recommend to my 30-something sons, each being a bit of a snob when it comes to referring quality authors like Hunter S. Thompson, Neil Gaiman, and Mark Twain to name a few. So you see, I wouldn't recommend this book if I didn't feel confident. I would go further even to recommend that you read all of his books.Product details

A short but extremely funny foray into the crazy world of Russian intelligence, bumbling spies, fornicating pigeons, James Wharton delivers a "Pythonesque" slant on the comical "toing and froing" of the KGB as they deal with the assassination of the Duke of Aridia...by ......parrots! A surreal and often head spinning yarn that I devoured and laughed out loud with. Excellent!
